Karma, the cosmic system of cause and effect, can be imagined as a spiral, where the main actor is a living being (center). Every action has its reaction, which in time returns to the place of origin. State of mind is important here. Indian Brahmins recognize three states - goodness, passion and ignorance, which are represented by the three larger circles in the motif. A person's future is thus influenced by how he decides today, and it is therefore good to think before making a decision, rather than trying to correct karma later.
